Jesus: He Lived Among Us
Have you ever watched a movie about Jesus? Many people have. If you're a Christian, you have probably seen the JESUS film, The Passion of the Christ, The Greatest Story Ever Told and other movies that interpret the life of Christ.
No film can capture the fullness of Jesus Christ's humanity or divinity, and none can tell his full story. But the better Jesus movies enable viewers to catch a small glimpse of the bigger picture. Many of them are excellent visual aids for better understanding the Bible.
The Voice of the Martyrs (VOM) is a non-profit, interdenominational organization that supports the persecuted church across the globe. In September 2011, VOM released an animated Jesus film called Jesus: He Lived Among Us. While staying true to the Scriptures, the movie tells the familiar and relevant story of Jesus from a slightly different perspective.
"If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also."
John 15:18-20, NIV
A Story of Persecution
Jesus: He Lived Among Us features 90 minutes of animated scenes about the life of Jesus, as told by his apostle John.
Often called "the disciple whom Jesus loved" or "the beloved disciple," John was a disciple of Christ and one of the twelve apostles. He was the last surviving apostle.
The animated film focuses on the persecution aspect of the Jesus story, centering on the persecution and crucifixion of Jesus, who died on the cross and rose again. It also examines the persecution of his followers like John, who experienced much suffering for the sake of Christ.
"Therefore, brothers and sisters, in all our distress and persecution we were encouraged about you because of your faith."
1 Thessalonians 3:7, NIV
Blessing the World
Jesus: He Lived Among Us appeals to people of all ages. Some view the film as an interesting retelling of a familiar story. Others -- including the struggling, persecuted church -- consider it a real blessing. Many Christians around the world experience extreme persecution firsthand. This film provides inspiration and hope.
The movie also serves as an effective evangelism tool, especially for persecuted Christians and indigenous missionaries who share the gospel message in their part of the world.
Herald Entertainment produced Jesus: He Lived Among Us. To make the best evangelism tool possible, VOM dubbed the film in twelve common languages from the world's most restricted areas (see the map and table below).
VOM has partnered with churches and other ministries to distribute the film on mission fields across the globe. To watch the movie trailer, download the script, and learn how you can help distribute the movie, visit The Voice of the Martyrs.
Update: As of April 19, 2012, VOM is offering a copy of this animated Jesus movie FREE for every church in America. Sign up your church today, and help reach the world with this unique Gospel presentation.
Taking the Gospel to all Nations
Jesus: He Lived Among Us is dubbed in twelve languages for the nations most hostile and restricted toward Christians. You can partner with VOM to sponsor the translation, production, and free distribution of Jesus: He Lived Among Us in these countries.
