Nuratrim: The Rapid Weight Loss Pill that Boosts Energy, Curbs Hunger, Burns Fat

What do these women share in common, apart from their unique standings in the world of celebrity and beauty? All four have reportedly used Nuratrim, a new rapid weight loss pill from Nuropharm Limited of Glasgow, Scotland.

Created by Alfred Hasselbacher, a German doctor, Nuratrim promises to deliver record calorie-burning effects on par with a 40-minute jog. According to Britain's The Telegraph, one dose can burn 380 calories per day. That is 15 times more calories than other diet pills have claimed.

"Nuratrim is the most advanced and effective weight loss aid available today," said Hasselbacher, who was quoted in The Telegraph. "It has been devised to assist all men and women looking to lose excess weight and control their appetite."

Already referred to as the new celebrity diet pill and the "Kim Kardashian diet pill," Nuratrim is a new option for people looking to shed those holiday pounds or stick to a new year's resolution.

More than 50,000 Nuratrim orders were filled before Nuropharm officially released the product to the British public in December 2011. Americans were introduced to the diet pill three months earlier.

Most health professionals warn against diet pills that enable rapid weight loss. But studies suggest that Nuratrim may be an effective solution when combined with a healthy diet, exercise, and lifestyle changes.

Nuratrim contains natural ingredients that are recognized for their fat-burning and hunger-suppressing properties: licorice extract, capsicum extract, green coffee extract, and glucomannan fiber.

Licorice (also spelled liquorice) extract comes from the root of the Glycyrrhiza glabra plant. Licorice is characterized by its distinctive, somewhat sweet-tasting flavor.

A plant related to beans and peas, Glycyrrhiza glabra is native to southern Europe, northern India, and parts of Asia. Fennel, anise, and star anise are not related to licorice, despite their similar tastes.

Licorice extract is a major ingredient in Nuratrim and other weight loss pills. Taken as a supplement or an extract, licorice can give metabolism a boost, especially when combined with a healthy diet and exercise program.

Clinical research has shown that licorice extract can decrease body weight, body mass index (BMI), and cholesterol levels.

Capsicum is a flowering plant in the nightshade family. Native to Mexico and the Americas, it is cultivated worldwide as a vegetable, spice, and medicine.

The fruit of the capsicum plant has many names, depending on location and type. Chili pepper, cayenne pepper, tabasco pepper, red pepper, green pepper, bell pepper, sweet pepper, and paprika are just a few examples.

Due to its unique fat-burning abilities, capsicum extract is an important ingredient in Nuratrim and other weight loss supplements. Not only does it burn energy in the form of carbohydrate and fat, but it also increases a dieter's resting metabolic rate.

Antioxidant properties make capsicum a desirable supplement for general health. The extract is effective for lowering cholesterol, glucose, and triglyceride levels. Fitness performance, endurance, and recovery are additional benefits of this ingredient.

Green coffee extract is a rather new ingredient on the dietary supplements market. Green (unroasted) coffee beans have antioxidant properties similar to those found in other natural ingredients, such as green tea and grape seed extract.

All coffee -- but especially unroasted green coffee -- helps the body burn a higher ratio of fats to carbohydrates. The research also suggests that green coffee extract aids the absorption and use of glucose in the diet.

Taken over time, green coffee may reduce body fat and lower BMI, when compared with the consumption of normal roasted or instant coffee. Green coffee extract is one of the unique ingredients found in Nuratrim.

Glucomannan is a dietary fiber derived from the root of the Amorphophallus konjac. As a food additive, it is used as a thickener or emulsifier. As a dietary supplement, it is marketed for appetite reduction, weight control, and other health concerns, such as constipation.

A main ingredient in many traditional Japanese foods, such as konnykaku and shirataki noodles, glucomannan is found in the corm (bulb or tuber) of the konjac plant.

Konjac (sometimes spelled konjak) is known by many different names: konnyaku potato, snake palm, devil's tongue, voodoo lily, and elephant yam. The plant is native to the warm and tropical regions of Asia, including Japan, China, and Indonesia.

Glucomannan has a high molecular weight and is said to be the strongest dietary fiber known to science. It can hold between 150 and 200 times its weight in water. Glucomannan contributes to weight loss by delaying the absorption of glucose in the intestines. It also provides a feeling of fullness that curbs hunger.
